Infectious diseases in African countries have evolved from being solely a healthcare crisis to becoming a challenge that impacts all sectors. The progress achieved in human development over the past few years is at risk of being reversed. Therefore, it is crucial to view these diseases as a global development concern, affecting various aspects such as education, income, productivity, gender equality, and human rights. Addressing long-term epidemics like HIV, TB, malaria, and hepatitis requires sustained global attention and a concerted effort to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 3.3.
