Dr. Yé is the President/Executive Director and Founder of Center of Excellence in Surveillance Monitoring and Evaluation and Learning – CESMEL Health, a leader in malaria epidemiology and global health. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Health/Epidemiology and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Heidelberg Medical School in Germany. He is an Adjunct Professor at Tulane University, Department of International Health and Sustainable Development School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine USA. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Yé has dedicated his career to empowering countries with strategic information to combat malaria and improve health outcomes. Before CESMEL Health, Dr. Yé was Vice President of Malaria Surveillance and Research at ICF, where he led USAID’s global malaria surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation (SME) project. In 2012, he served as Deputy Director for the Global Fund’s independent evaluation of the Affordable Medicines Facility–malaria (AMFm) across eight endemic countries. Previously, as WHO/TDR Regional Technical Coordinator in Kenya, he evaluated community case management of childhood illnesses in Cameroon, DRC, and Malawi. Earlier roles include Associate Research Scientist at the African Population and Health Research Center and Guest Scientist at the University of Heidelberg. Dr. Yé’s expertise includes malaria epidemiology, SME, and health information systems. He has evaluated national-scale malaria interventions, developed M&E strategies, and supported national malaria control programs. He has trained over 400 professionals in malaria SME across Africa as a mentor and trainer. Dr. Yé has served as President of the American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene -ASTMH Global Health Committee and remains active on its Executive Council. He is a member of WHO’s Malaria Strategic Information Advisory Group, the Scientific Advisory Board of Institut National de Sante Publique (INSP) in Burkina Faso, and was a board member of Nouna Health Research Center. He also contributed to establishing the African Institute for Development Policy, serving on its board until 2023. |
